Themed post 3: Favorite tree or plant

Hi all!

today we are writing the last post from the 3 you chose at the beginning of the semester. This topic has a strong connection with your field of study. Even though it's not my area, most people like nature, and I like it too.

I could say that my favorite plants are two: succulent plants and mirabilis jalapa, commonly known as dengue (I did my research haha), and that is easily seen in our streets.

Aeonium

I have had some succulents (especially aeonium), but I must confess I'm not very good with plants, even though I take care of them; at the end, they die, but probably there are no appropriate conditions at my house to keep them alive...so at the end I always suffer because I really like them.

Dengue

The second one is a plant that brings me memories from my childhood because my mom really loved those flowers and their smell. I like to smell them if I see them when I'm walking somewhere and to look at their beautiful colors and the combinations that can be seen in them.

A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Hi all!!

This week post is about University, and more specifically the subject you really enjoyed studying during this semester. I know you are very stressed and kind of confused because of the strike, and maybe you don't want to hear about subjects (considering we just came back and the end of the semester is quite near)... but, anyway your mission now is to choose one subject you really liked, the one that gave you the energy to continue or made you realize that this career is perfect for you.

You know I finished university many years ago, but I remember that a subject I really liked was French (I studied translation, too), I was very good at it, and my teacher made us read interesting articles, and discuss about them; and she was really kind, it was a pleasure to be in class, so I tried to be there all the time. Another subject I enjoyed, too was Judo (yes, martial arts), as any university student I was stressed, and I knew doing sports was a good choice to relax, so with a partner we joined (I had no or little information about what was it about), and at the end I was really into that sport, which I practiced for about 3 years.

Career-related website or expert on your field

 My favorite career-related website

Thinking of that, I wasn't really sure which is my favorite one, because I visit a lot of them! But, the one I visit most often is www.busyteacher.org,  a really good name for a website for teachers. This website contains worksheets, class ideas, etc. It's a really good tool for teachers of all levels (it has resources ranging from kindergarten to university-level students); when I first used this tool you had to create an account to access the resources, but nowadays it;s not necessary (which is awesome, because I used to forget the password all the time!). I visit this website quite often, when I need more attractive ideas or when I want to use a song to reinforce a particular topic in the classroom. 
Another website that I use quite often is www.wordreference.com, which is one the best online dictionaries. The reason why I think this is one of the best dictionaries is that it has forum discussions, which are very useful when you are looking for the translation of a phrase or expression.
Well, if you are a teacher or a student of English, at least one of these websites could be a good option for enhancing your learning or saving time when you are planning your lessons.

2nd themed-post: movies

Hi all!

Movies? Well, as most people I like to watch movies, but sometimes I don't have plenty of time to do it. I usually watch movies at home with my husband (thanks to Netflix), because it's difficult to find someone to babysit our son.
I think the last movie I saw was "Coco"which I downloaded from the web (yes,that's piracy, I'm outside the law).
If I had to choose one movie that I like,I'mnot sure I could mention one, because sometimes movies are like music, there are some songs you like in one period of you forget it, and in my case something similar happens to me; anyway there's one I've liked for a long time: Reality Bites, which is about the X generation (the one I'm supposed to belong to) and it kind of represents me and the difficulties you face when you finish university, and of course because this movie is a slice of the 90's.

Reality Bites

The worst movie ever?? Well, difficult to say because I've seen a lot of bad movies, like the typical ones from Hollywood with beautiful blondes and muscular guys, but there's one I remember and that I saw when I was a girl, I don't remember its name, but the main role was starred by Luis Miguel and in the movie he suffered an accident and the doctors had to amputate one of his legs; I don't know how it was allowed to film that awful movie.

A photograph you like and its story

I must confess that I like to take pictures, and most of the times I'm the person in charge when there's a celebration or something like that...everyone in my family expects me to take pictures (which is a little bit sad... I don't appear in many pictures). That could be the reason that it was complicated to choose one picture. Anyway I chose this one which was taken during September holidays, it's a selfie with my son, behind us there's a waterfall. That day we were visiting a big park and in that moment we were in the aviary. The reason I like it, it's because my son looks crazy and I hope that he never loses the spontaneity that characterizes childhood. Even though I think I don't look well  in the picture, I'm sure that if I see it again in 10 years I'm going to remember the good times we had in that travel.

1st themed-post: My favorite place in the world

Hi everyone!
This week we are going to write about our favorite places in the world.

Favorite beach

It's difficult to decide, because sometimes It depends on my mood; for example when I'm exhausted my favorite place would be my bedroom,where I can relax and do nothing. When I'm bored and I want to run away from this chaotic city, the place I love is the beach, and I especially love going where I used to spend my summer when I was a child.
Anyway, I think that I really like those places, but I'm convinced that I could change my mind, because every time I travel and I know different places I fall in love with them;so I name them as my new favorite places. The thing is,  what is important is the company, I mean the people that are with you while you're in those places. I wouldn't like my favorite beach if I was forced to be there alone (maybe a couple a days would be ok), but when I'm with the ones I love, most places could become my favorite ones.
